BUFF®’s Future Focus – sustainability and plans for The International Running Expo

Born out of love for adventure and originating in Spain, BUFF® was founded by Joan Rojas in 1992 and is an established leading brand in the endurance space and beyond, with products sold in over 80 countries worldwide. We recently spoke with them about setting the benchmark for sustainability initiatives and what visitors to The International Running Expo (IRX) in November can expect to see from them.

Committed to Sustainability
BUFF became B Corp certified in 2022 and say that this commitment is at the very core of all their initiatives, with a focus on improving their score with every new certification.  B Corp certification signifies that a company meets high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

BUFF’s sustainability commitment includes:
– 93% of production in our carbon-neutral Barcelona factory
– 80% of units sold during 2023/24 comprise natural or recycled materials
– 100% of energy used at BUFF’s in-house manufacturing facility comes from renewable sources since 2019.
– 67% of suppliers are sourced locally in Spain, reducing carbon impact and supporting regional economies.
– 53 million plastic bottles recycled since 2018 to make BUFF as sustainable as possible.
– 0 fabric waste – The seamless construction of our multifunctional neckwear creates zero fabric waste in the manufacturing process.
– Carbon neutrality – In 2023, we achieved carbon neutrality in all our direct operations.

Plans for IRX
Visitors to IRX will be able to preview BUFF’s 2026 ranges for both summer and fall/winter. With new socks being launched for summer ’26 and a brand-new category of glove for fall/winter. Positioning itself as a leading accessory brand in the running space, BUFF is looking forward to showcasing lines ideal for both city and trail running with the European base. They will also be potentially exploring new collaborations at the show and are looking forward to meaningful discussions to help shape the industry going forward.
