Fuelling the fun: interactive activations at this year’s IRX

Conducting business takes many dimensions. Connections are deepened by shared experiences. They create space for common ground, allowing you to build real emotional bonds rather than just facilitating an environment to exchange business cards or social handles. Industry events should foster connection and collaboration, creating last memories.

Organisers of The International Running Expo (IRX) in November (4th-5th), Raccoon Media Group are assembling an exciting host of supplemental activities to cultivate a fun and coactive environment across the two-day event. From scavenger hunts across Amsterdam’s iconic sights to ice baths,  drill sessions, and live DJ sets, delegates can enjoy a wide range of active and social pursuits, delivered by local talent.

Delegates are invited to breathe better and work better with Breathwork Sessions over both days run by Balance Breathing, an Amsterdam-based company founded by Cole Groom and Zsombor Szabo. The science-backed effective and rejuvenating sessions led by certified instructors help IRX attendees reset, recharge and perform at their best. Whether priming the body for the next activity or looking for space to unwind, the sessions will provide sought-after sanctuary.

On the first morning of the event, leaders in compression sportswear cep will host preamble run outside of the Expo venue (RAI Amsterdam) for athletes and influencers, intended to energise and prepare them for the day ahead.

Alternatively, IRX visitors can select the Warm Up Drill Session with Arj Thiruchelvam, founder and head coach of Performance Physique. Arj has 20+ years’ experience, delivers science-led coaching and trains novices to elites (Team GB). This 40-minute electrifying drill session will get partakers primed for performance.

Ice Bath Immersion sessions also running across both days of the Expo are being delivered by local company Balance Breathing. From shock to strength – these guided experiences elevate muscle recovery, reduce inflammation and strengthen mental resilience, training the body to stay calm under pressure.

In the Wellbeing and Recovery Lounge, John Kraijenbrink ‘The Running Dutchman’ will be providing ‘Yoga with the Running Yogi’ sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday. Giving visitors an opportunity for some respite, these recovery-focused gatherings are designed to calm the mind, strengthen breath and support the body’s healing process.

The Cool Down Party on Tuesday 4th November is where those attending IRX will really be able to blow off some steam. The industry equivalent of an ‘apres-ski’, this must-attend spectacle is being held in De Hallen – a cultural centre and national heritage site in Amsterdam’s Oud-West district. A live DJ, drinks and dancing will create an atmosphere optimum for socialising and escapism.

On the Wednesday morning, day two of the event, there will be a different take on a run club shakeout with the ‘Amsterdam Scavenger Run’. This is an 8-10km course organised by local company Indie Runner. Founded by Yoshi Green in 2020 to create unique running experiences, Indie Runner focus on creative challenges, collaboration and connection. Those taking part in the Scavenger Run will receive clues and take on a self-guided route to navigate between four location highlights, giving participants an opportunity to see their surroundings in a new, exciting and active way.
