“I run a 2:48 marathon – from nutrition to sleep, here’s how I’m optimising my training”
IRX Athlete & Influencer, Ben Kelleher has been featured in a recent Runner’s World article sharing his tips and tricks on training for long distances.
‘It’s not just practising the distance of the event, it’s what I’m wearing, my food and water intake, the weight of what I’m carrying – I take the number of gels I want to carry, even if I’m training over a shorter route, because I want to know what that actually feels like in my pockets,’ he says.
‘All of this really helps me feel ready when race day arrives, and means I’m as comfortable as possible. I do take recommendations on kit and fuel from others, but I’ll always test them out multiple times beforehand to make sure they work for me.’
Ben opens up about his marathon training journey, his partnership with Samsung, and how technology is playing a crucial role in tracking performance and recovery. He shares an inspiring look into the commitment and discipline required to train at an elite level, while also highlighting the balance between ambition and personal wellbeing.
Ben’s dedication and perspective perfectly captures the spirit of IRX, where elite performance meets community and innovation.
